Priorities

We need innovaive solutions to address the chronic underfunding of education in Solano County. This includes reducing waste and ensuring that every student has access to the most up-to-date tecnologies and that money and resourses reach the classroom where they belong. 

Ensure ALL students receive the support they need and our schools are places where students have access to the educational resources they need as well as the basics they need to succeed including food security, health and mental/emotional support. Our schools are an integral part of the health and well-being of our kids. Many students receive healthy meals, portions of their health care and more, through our school system. A student’s health is a leading indicator of their ability to succeed in school. Young students who can’t see or hear well, or students who come to school hungry or from unsafe conditions are less likely to thrive in the classroom and graduate from high school. 

The opportunity to succeed in school should be available to EVERY child. Considering the whole child from an early age through their graduation, helps ensure they are on the path to success. We need to ensure essential support for our students and consider their individual needs.

Ensure that all students have full access to their education, whether college bound or through learning a valuable trade. Protect access to legitimate history, science, literature.

Promote civic engagement so children and youth can become contibuting members of their communities. Provide programs such as sustainability training, climate education and Earth Stewardship so they become good strewards of our planet.

School should provide a safe space where children are protected from threats and crisis. Creating an environment safe from gun violence and an environment of support for students and school staff. Promote mindfulness and provide non-violent communication training for children, at-risk youth as well as school personnel.
